White-Tail Deer

White-tailed deer are the smallest members of the North American deer family. They  are found in areas ranging from southern Canada to South America. They typically live in fields and meadows using broad-leaved and coniferous forests for shade and shelter. White-tailed deer are herbivores, so they eat  most plant foods.
Their stomachs allow them to digest a varied diet, including leaves, twigs, fruits and nuts, grass, corn,
and other fungi. They dont usually look for food during the day. At dawn and dusk is when you are most likely to see them. White-tails are hunted by bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, and humans. They are very quick when they need to be and can make sudden changes.

Cougars

Cougars have over 200 different names because they live in so many different places. They typically live in steep, rocky canyons, but can also be found in jungle swamp areas and desert plains. They are slightly different depending on where they live. Cougars are light brown, and in a few cases, black. They have spots on  the side of their muzzles. They also have dark hair on the tip of their tail with  lighter colored chest and belly. They have very good  vision and hearing. Their ears are round and move to focus on sounds. They can also swim and climb trees. Cougars can catch and kill anything from a rodent to a moose, but are not on the top of the food chain. They are very powerful and skilled. Cougars adapted well to different things so thats why they can be found in a lot of areas.

Rattlesnakes

Rattlesnakes are one of the four different snakes that live in North America. They can be identified by their triangular head and their rattles on their tails. Their are many species of rattlesnakes and they can be identified apart from one another by their pattern and color of skin. Rattlesnakes use their forked tongues and vibrations from the ground to hunt for prey. Their can see up to about 40 feet and the closer the object, the better they can see it. Here are some facts or things about a rattlesnake.
  • they have a broad, "triangular" head.
  • Eyes have verticle  pupils.
  • Scales are keeled with a raised ridge in the center of each.
  • Body is heavy or thick in appearance.
  • Large tubular fangs in mouth that fold out when the mouth opens.
  • The mouth  opens 180 degrees.
  • Blunt tail with jointed rattle.
  • Typically rattlesnakes range from 3 to 4 feet in length.
Rattlesnakes live for about 20 to 30 years. When a female has babies, it can have 4 to about 25 eggs inside her and gives birth to about 4 to 10 of them. Rattlesnakes like to live where there is a constant source of food such as, rodents, rabbits, squirrels, etc. They also usaully stay close to their dens. Another fact is that rattlesnakes can strike at a distance that is two thirds its length.

Hummingbird

The Hummingbird is the smallest bird known to us, but has the largest brain of all the birds. Thats pretty ironic too me. They have no sense of smell and is the only bird that has rotating wings. That means they can fly forward, backwards, up and down. The Hummingbird can fly up to 60 miles a hour, but average between 20 and 30 miles a hour. They have very weak legs though so they only use them when they are perching. Hummingbirds only live in North and South America. Another cool fact about them is that their heart rate can reach up to 1,260 beats a minute. Heres a video below.
