Lions

Lions are the second largest cat in the world. Some male lions weighing as much as 550 lbs and females weigh as much as 400 lbs. Male lions have a mane that tends to become darker the older they are. They live in groups called prides and they live in groups of 5 or 6 lions. The female lions or lioness do the hunting for the pride. After a kill or hunt the male lion eats first and arent likely too share until they are done, but if they do share, its usually with the cubs.

They try to surround the prey, attack quickly, and kill it by strangulation. They mostly hunt large animals like zebras, wildebeest, and etc. Lions mate whenever they feel like it,and the female usually has 2 to4 cubs.
Lions communicate in a number of different ways like head rubbing, licking, facial expressions, and body gestures. They tend to roar at night and they have the loudest roar of any cat, which can be heard up too 3 miles away. Lions have a couple enemies that can hurt or kill them and steal their prey/kill. Those are the Nile crocodrile and the spotted hyenas. Lions are also mostly found living in the grasslands and savannas of Africa. They are interesting animals because of the way they live and by their roles as a pride.
