Sumatran Tigers

Sumatran Tiger are the smallest of all the tigers and just happen to be on the endangered list. Their average height is about 7 to 8 feet tall and weigh anywhere from 200 to 265 lbs. Since they are smaller then most tigers they can move quickly in their habitat and through the tall grass. They also have smaller strips then the other tigers. The Sumatran tiger have webbed toes too,so they can swim very quickly and sometimes chase their prey into the water so they can catch them. They are one of two tigers that like being in the water.

This type of tiger have “eye spots” which make them look larger from behind and is used to help protect them and their cubs. The Sumatran Tigers are only found in Sumatra and there are only about 500 known to be living there. So that’s way they are on the list, plus they are losing their homes because of farms etc. They use their sight and hearing to catch their prey they have to be very patient about it. No one is allowed to hunt or kill them because of them being that endangered.
